Benjamin Okezie Kalu, the House of Representatives’ deputy speaker, has spoken out against the needless and horrifying murder of Jacob and Comfort Udo.
After moving from Itumbuzor to the metropolis of Bende in the same local government area of Abia State, the couple lived in the Isiala Autonomous Community until their terrible demise.
Unidentified intruders reportedly decapitated and dismembered them on Tuesday night.
The horrific act of violence is intolerable and a violation of the basic human right to life, according to the Deputy Speaker, whose statement was signed by Livinus Nwabughiogu, his Chief Press Secretary.
No legitimate grievance could ever justify such a savagely cruel and evil deed, as pointed out by Kalu, who is a representative for the Bende Federal Constituency.
He expressed his condolences to the victims’ loved ones and urged the government of Abia State and the police to launch a full investigation to find and punish those responsible.
The Deputy Speaker pleaded with the residents of his area to remain calm and refrain from retaliatory attacks, assuring them that the government will take all necessary steps to apprehend and punish the perpetrators of the murders.
The senseless murder of the couple has my full condemnation. This horrific act of brutality goes against everything that mankind stands for. The victims’ loved ones and families are in my prayers, he stated.
