Mr. Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has announced that the FCT Administration will complete two of the three bus and taxi terminals currently under construction by January.
When the current projects in Abuja are over, no bus or taxi would be able to use FCT road again, according to Wike, who made this announcement during an inspection on Tuesday. He added that everyone will proceed to the different terminals.
The contractor was allocated 15 months to deliver the three terminals in Mabushi, Eagle Square, and Kugbo in the FCT, and he expressed pleasure with the pace of work that began only three months ago in July.
The minister did mention that the contractor had committed to delivering the Mabushi and Kugbo terminals in January, which is nine months ahead of schedule.
There were some issues with the Eagle Square terminal, but these have been resolved.
The contractor attempted to resolve a dispute with the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) over certain subterranean utilities.
“I am confident that work will begin there very soon,” the minister stated.
During the July inauguration, Wike said that the bus terminals were part of a larger effort to decrease insecurity as part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He went on to say that the terminals were designed to make commuters’ travel in the FCT more secure and convenient.
In addition, he emphasized that the move was a crucial stride in improving the territory’s transportation infrastructure.
