Over the weekend, Comrade Isaac Balami, Founding Chancellor of Isaac Balami University of Aeronautics and Management (IBUAM), met separately in Abuja with Mohammed Umaru Bago, Governor of Niger State, and Mai Mala Buni, Governor of Yobe State.
Chancellor Balami unveiled a plan to recruit exceptional young people to IBUAM during these meetings. Several state governments in Nigeria have already committed to the program, he said.
The governors vowed to investigate potential strategic alliances that would increase funding for youth empowerment programs and reaffirmed their belief in education’s ability to contribute to national development.
Balami was complimented by Governor Bago for setting a new academic level in the country during their meeting. Bago lauded the university’s dedication and said he plans to do an inspection so that the state’s scholarship program can register students, including those with special needs.
Bago made it clear that he was familiar with Balami’s work and had read good things about your university. Your airport and campus facilities will be evaluated by a group I will send to Lagos as part of Niger State policy.
According to Balami, Niger State might become a national leader in youth development and academic achievement thanks to the collaboration.
Balami was also praised by Governor Buni for giving a thorough overview of IBUAM and its programs during the following meeting. According to Buni, over 300 students were funded by his government to attend universities in India in an effort to raise the level of education in Yobe State.
He acknowledged that the government’s dedication to students’ welfare was at risk due to changes in the currency rate, but he reaffirmed that commitment.
When asked about the difficulty and expense of aviation training, Buni recalled how he had paid for his relatives’ type ratings and certifications out of his own pocket. He was pleased that IBUAM now provides this kind of training on a local level, since it cuts expenses and opens doors.
In addition, Buni stated that his government will think about sending outstanding high school seniors who are receiving state scholarships to IBUAM as part of its Talent Hunt program, which aims to find and help talented people so the state may grow.
The first indigenous aviation university in Africa, IBUAM provides a wide range of professional programs, and Balami thanked the governors for their interest while reassuring them that numerous other state governments are also prepared to support students there.
Around fifty-four students have already started classes at the university thanks to sponsorship from the Borno State Government.
Those in the know about the talks said that the plan is in line with Governor Buni’s goals of improving aviation and building infrastructure. The state’s airport is currently undergoing expansion and upgrades, which he has been working tirelessly to improve; these projects are anticipated to increase economic prospects and promote the growth of the local aviation industry.
The aviation development plan in Niger State is complementary to the agricultural transformation program in a similar vein. Experts predict that large-scale agro-processing and farming will flourish as a result of funding for aviation training and infrastructure, including air logistics and cargo services. They adopted a strategic approach to youth empowerment and sectoral development by stating that building local aviation knowledge will enhance the value chain and encourage economic progress.
