Dowman advised against dealing with key Arsenal players by Rooney

Warwick Rooney, a former Manchester United great, has warned rookie midfielder Max Dowman that the more seasoned Arsenal players will teach him humility.

Dowman scored a vital late goal in Arsenal’s 2-0 Premier League victory over Everton at the Emirates Stadium last weekend, and Rooney’s comments followed suit.

In spite of this, Rooney is certain that senior figures, such as manager Mikel Arteta, will make sure that the 16-year-old keeps his head down and stays focused, even though expectations are mounting.

On The Wayne Rooney Show, Rooney remarked, “Max shows confidence on the ball, holding onto it well and taking on defenders.” Said Rooney.

“But he won’t get ahead of himself—Mikel Arteta and a few of the more seasoned Arsenal players will make sure of that.”

Dowman is eagerly anticipating Tuesday’s Champions League match against Bayer Leverkusen, after which he will reflect on his historic Premier League goal.
