The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have called on the residents of the South-East area to disregard their Monday sit-at-home.
On Sunday, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, the youth wing of the supreme Igbo socio-cultural organization, issued the instruction, characterising sit-at-home as an unprofitable endeavour.
According to Gistcon, IPOB spokesman Emma Powerful has announced a sit-in across the South-East tomorrow, Monday, February 2, in response to the continuing dispute involving Onitsha Main Market vendors and Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State.
The youth of the Ohanaeze, led by its national president Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, issued a press release on Sunday urging everyone in the South-East to go about their lawful business.
Okwu pointed out that the Ndigbo would no longer be enticed into unprofitable endeavours after describing the sit-at-home command as self-serving.
He remembered that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of IPOB, had repeatedly cautioned against any sort of sit-in in the South-East.
It was obvious that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was opposed to it; he called it economic sabotage against the South-East.
I don’t see why someone would return to claim he is announcing a sit-in. That people who do not care about the Ndigbo are on an ego trip is the insinuation.
The IPOB Directorate of State (DOS) has also condemned this careless order, thus no one should follow it. Those who want destroy Igbo territory in the name of Biafra should quit hiding. If something is hurting our people, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will never back it.
We kindly request that all markets in the area, including the Onitsha Main Market, remain open tomorrow, Monday, February 2, for regular commerce and activities.
