Alex Iwobi, a member of the Super Eagles, blamed Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo for injuring him in last weekend’s 3-2 setback for Fulham at Old Trafford.
Fulham staged a late comeback, but were ultimately defeated by a goal from Benjamin Sesko in the 94th minute. Iwobi, a key member for Marco Silva’s squad this season, played the full match.
While discussing Mainoo’s strength on his Alexander Yaa Digg podcast, Iwobi joked about the midfielder’s Ghanaian heritage and showed off his wounded finger. He then praised Kobbie Mainoo.
“However, you completed my hand, Kobbie. You completely broke my hand, Kobbie. His strength is reminiscent of that of a Ghanaian.
Iwobi lauded Fulham’s Kevin Santos Lopes, who scored his team’s first goal and briefly levelled the score, describing it as “a mad goal.”
Bringing it back was a solid performance. It was Kevin’s first goal, and it was a beauty. Kudos to him. What a remarkable objective!
While expressing sadness about surrendering in the last moments, he lauded Raul Jimenez for his composure throughout the penalty kick.
It was a well-rounded effort, and Raul Jiménez makes no mistake from the penalty spot. Obviously, we felt cheated when they scored in the final seconds,” he said.
With two goals and two assists in 18 league appearances this season, Iwobi has maintained his impressive form for Fulham.
