Following his indefinite suspension by State Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru over alleged dereliction of duty, Lebechi Mbam, the suspended Commissioner for Works in Ebonyi State, has issued a public apologies.
We all remember that over the weekend, Governor Nwifuru stated that Mbam and his colleague Ogbonnaya Obasi Abara would be suspended indefinitely from their positions at the Ministry of Works, citing failures in their duties.
After his suspension, Mbam took to social media to express his feelings about the leadership pressures he felt and the unfulfilled expectations that had been a part of his tenure.
Being able to “take accolades and the courage to take correction and reprimand” is a hallmark of good leadership, he said.
Defending his position as leader and mentor, the troubled commissioner reiterated his commitment to the governor and his willingness to answer to him.
Public and private disciplinary actions, he said, are meant to improve administration and service delivery, and the governor continues to place a premium on performance in the Ministry of Works.
Under my supervision, the Ministry of Works failed to meet its expectations, and I accept full responsibility for this. He took full responsibility for the oversights on behalf of the Ebonyi State Ministry of Works.
In addition, Mbam sent his apologies for what he called disappointments and promised that the recent events would motivate a reevaluation of operations, the strengthening of weak areas, and the expansion of strong points.
Excuse me, Your Excellency, for any disappointment that may have been caused. A second opportunity will not be lightly granted, and we will improve.
