Nigerian Air Force recommitment to protecting Niger Delta oil and gas assets was reinforced by Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke.
During a strategic operational visit to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Base in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, to review important operational facilities and commission crucial infrastructure projects, he made this statement.
The newly built and renovated facilities, including a modern briefing room complex and other building blocks, were commissioned during Air Marshall Aneke’s visit to the 115 Special Operations Group. These improvements aim to improve operational planning, command coordination, and administrative efficiency, according to Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information at the Nigerian Air Force headquarters.
The VIP sections on the runway and apron, the aircraft hangar, the Nigerian Air Force Hospital, and other vital operational infrastructure were also examined by him.
Additionally, he visited the governor of Siminalayi Fubara as a courtesy and expressed gratitude for the government’s ongoing support of the Nigerian Air Force stationed in Rivers State.
An Agusta 139 helicopter was transferred to the Nigerian Air Force by the state government, which also rehabilitated and resurfaced the runway and aprons at NAF Base Port Harcourt, issued the Base’s Certificate of Occupancy, and provided twelve two-bedroom housing units for NAF personnel, as recognised by the Chief of the Air Staff.
He said that the Air Force’s operational preparedness and ability to respond to new security threats in the Niger Delta area had been greatly improved as a result of the interventions.
In response, Governor Fubara restated the dedication of the Rivers State Government to maintaining its collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force and other security agencies in guaranteeing tranquillity and order in the state.
