Breaking News: Ex-COAS Buratai Refuses to Take Responsibility for Naming Nigerian Terrorist Financiers

In a Friday statement, Tukur Buratai, a former chief of army staff, denied any responsibility for identifying individuals funding terrorism.
The reasons behind the withholding of these terrorists’ identities are known to the federal government and certain agencies, according to Buratai. He made the announcement during an appearance on Politics Today on Channels Television.
We put too much faith in the military and the Army, each department is accountable for its actions, the government is aware of the origin of the problem, and relevant agencies are held to account, says Buratai.
I am not to blame for exposing the terrorists’ financial backers, you argue. It’s not as simple as naming names; those agencies are aware of the reasons behind the secrecy.
There needs to be a response since these people are still alive and well in today’s society. Even though the Nigerian Army is wholly responsible for some things, I will own up to them.
“Rehabilitating repentant Boko Haram is a government decision, not an Army one. Our original plan was to offer them a deadline to surrender in 2016, and if they did, we would let them pass freely and give them to the right organisations to help them recover.”
