Four individuals in Yusufari LGA have been apprehended by Operation Hadin Kai on suspicion of providing logistical support to Boko Haram militants.
Zagazola Makama, an authority on security and counter-insurgency in the Lake Chad area, revealed this in a post on X.
During a night patrol at Forward Operating Base, FOB, Jajimaji, soldiers from 241 Battalion were able to detain the suspects at 11:00 p.m. on March 24, according to the source.
It went on to say that at a nearby petrol station, the soldiers had stopped two cars that were carrying Premium Motor Spirit, PMS. Reportedly, the vehicles tried to run upon seeing the troops, which led to a pursuit.
“We were able to successfully intercept one Golf vehicle with registration number AG273, but the second vehicle managed to get away.
The source added that seven sacks containing an estimated 77 litres of PMS were discovered during a search of the intercepted car.
The names of the suspects, as disclosed by Makama, include a 25-year-old driver named Mohammed Idi, a 21-year-old motor boy named Mero Umra, a 50-year-old pump attendant/manager named Hasan Liman, and a 28-year-old station guard named Jibril Audu.
The statement continued by saying that the suspects and the N1.6 million in cash were both taken into military custody pending more investigation.
