A group in Kwara state has disrupted an empowerment event

A woman in Oke-Onigbin town, Kwara State, inside the Kwara South Senatorial District, Chief Adejoke Mistura Adeyemi, was the organiser of an empowerment event on Saturday when it was disrupted by unidentified women and youths.

News reports that reached Gistcon state that the benefactor oversaw the initiative, which targeted a subset of the populations in the following four LGAs: Isin, Oke-Ero, Ekiti, and Irepodun.

Ten vehicles, a Bajaj motorbike, ten chest freezers, twenty grinding machines, ten hairstyle dryers, four cosmetic tools, ten sets of generators, and thirty sewing machines were among the items shared.

While the fortunate recipients did receive their gifts, chaos ensued halfway through the presentation when a group of community members, who remained anonymous, stormed the stadium and stole many 5-kilogram bags of rice meant for other recipients.

“They overpowered the security team, comprising soldiers, police, Civil Defence Corps, Road Safety officials, and local hunters at the venue of the event,” according to security sources.

Honourable Jolayemi Benjamen, Rasaki Omotosho, and Segun Adebayo were among the dignitaries in attendance.

Traditional leaders from Omu Aran, Oke-Onigbin, Oba Olómù, Onigbesi of Igbésí, and Oba Kalmadeen Salawudeen Onigbin were also present. One of the important figures in Oke Aba is Oniwo. The invasion did not result in any casualties, according to sources inside the security forces.
