Atiku Abubakar, the country’s former vice president, has called Nasir El-Rufai’s attempted arrest a national disgrace.
While paying a solidarity visit to El-Rufai at his Abuja house on Thursday, Atiku made this statement.
According to Gistcon, El-Rufai was the target of an attempted arrest by DSS agents, which has provoked reactions from all corners.
As Atiku makes his way to Abuja, there was an incident at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. El-Rufai had just landed from Cairo, Egypt, on Egypt Air flight MS 877 when operatives allegedly attempted to detain him.
You may remember that Rotimi Amaechi, the former minister of transport, paid a previous visit to the outgoing governor to convey the same message of support.
“There was no need for El-Rufai to be embarrassed or try to be kidnapped,” Atiku remarked during his speech during the visit, stating that the society exists on the rule of law.
You could have been invited to their place if they had let you. Various government posts have been held by you. You did an excellent job in your roles as minister and governor.
They are embarrassing everyone in society, therefore there was no need to embarrass you. You may count on our support, as will all law-abiding Nigerians.
