On Wednesday, Bashir Ahmad, a former media aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, urged Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf to initiate an urban revitalization project in the state.
Ahmad suggested that Abba should follow the example set by Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, in running the state of Kano.
With a post on X, the ex-presidential spokesman demanded that the governor create two new cities outside of Kano.
Under Governor Yusuf, Ahmad proposed splitting the Kano metropolis into the cities of Gaya and Dambatta.
If these two cities were to be built, he said, the Kano metropolis would be relieved of its congestion.
“Dear Governor Yusuf Abba, The Kano Urban Renewal, will you kindly grant it? Comparable to the one that Kaduna experienced while Governor El-Rufai was operating?
Two cities outside of Kano metropolitan should be included.
To alleviate Kano’s congestion and promote long-term prosperity, “Let’s say Gaya City and Dambatta City.”
