With much fanfare and anticipation for the upcoming local government elections, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has formally launched the campaign for the Plateau South Senatorial District Local Government elections.
In his address to the state’s rural residents, the governor stressed that the upcoming elections will open the door to much-needed infrastructure improvements.
The citizen’s strong ties to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which Mutfwang praised as a symbol of optimism and the state’s bright future, were reiterated by him.
He thanked the Southern Zone for their tremendous support in the 2023 elections and urged them to do the same in the impending local government elections on October 9, 2024.
The commitment of his administration to enhancing infrastructure in the Southern Senatorial Zone was emphasized by the Governor.
In addition to continuing efforts to guarantee a supply of potable water and a durable road network, he announced the approval of a large sum of money for the provision of energy.
Additionally, Mutfwang informed the people that he will run an inclusive government.
“I want to emphasize that this administration is committed to including all citizens in governance, therefore even those who ran for different posts but were unsuccessful will not be excluded.
The governor has called on the residents of Plateau South to support the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming local elections so that the district can experience real democratic benefits.
Through the help of God, I will be by your side every step of the way as my administration works to fulfill its commitments.
Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) is ready to hold credible elections that are devoid of fraud, the governor said, and he promised to bring back open and honest voting in the state. Each candidate for the PDP chairmanship in the zone received a flag from him.
According to Dakas Shan, the PDP Zonal Vice Chairman of the North Central Zone, Plateau South is still a PDP stronghold, and Shan predicted a resounding triumph for the party in all 17 LGAs for both the chairmanship and councilorship positions.
His Royal Highness, Miskoom Martin Sheldas III, was the Long Gamai of the Gamai Nation and Chairman of the Shendam Traditional Council; Governor Mutfwang had previously visited him as a courtesy.
As he praised God for the traditional ruler’s assistance during the 2023 elections, the governor also expressed thanks for the traditional ruler’s recuperation and recovery.
In the run-up to the council elections, he made a plea for people to keep supporting his efforts to improve the area.
