In an effort to alleviate the security situation in the north, the Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association (KACRAN) has called on federal officials and northern leaders to put discussion first.
In a statement released on Sunday in Damaturu, Yobe State, the association’s National President, Khalil Mohammed Bello, made the request.
More than 200 innocent persons were brutally murdered in Niger and Kwara states recently, while 176 more were abducted in Kwara, prompting KACRAN to raise alarm.
It demanded that all captives be released immediately and without conditions from any location in the nation, urging the appropriate authorities and security services to do just that.
In addition, the group called on criminals and bandits to immediately stop murdering innocent Nigerians.
“We must draw lessons from the unfortunate experiences of countries such as Libya, Sudan, and Syria; we simply cannot sustain an atmosphere of uncertainty,” it stated.
Although military intervention is sometimes required, KACRAN pointed out that “militarisation” of internal issues frequently results in more complicated security threats.
We advise moving toward a diplomatic and logistical strategy. The governors of the northern regions, along with members of the national and state assemblies, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and everyone else with an interest in the matter, are being urged by KACRAN to collaborate in order to determine and resolve the underlying reasons of instability in the region. It lauded the tenacity of brave security forces and military troops who keep giving it their all.
“However, KACRAN is extremely worried that insecurity continues despite all of these measures and the allocation of more than five trillion naira in the defence budget for 2026,” the statement read.
