Retired public primary school teachers and local government employees in Ogun State have received a gratuity of N2.6 billion for the fourth quarter of 2024, distributed by the state’s Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Olufisan Osiyale, the bureau’s permanent secretary, made the announcement on Wednesday in his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Osiyale said that Governor Abiodun’s affection for the elderly and a desire to help them out in spite of the current economic climate inspired the gesture.
To have Governor Dapo Abiodun, whose concern for the common good is unparalleled, is a blessing, he remarked. Those who have worked hard during their working years, in his view, deserve proper care when they age.
“This is the reason behind the distribution of the N2.64bn gratuity to retired Public Primary School Teachers and Local Government Staff,”
Osiyale urged the recipients to make the most of the gift by maintaining a healthy lifestyle and reaching out to God in prayer as a way to show their gratitude for the governor’s hand of fellowship.
Retired Primary School Teachers Association of Nigeria (REPSTAN) State Chairperson Mrs. Caroline Oguntola praised Governor Abiodun for the retirees’ increased monthly pensions and gratuities, as well as the sale of rice subsidised by the federal and state governments, and urged him to keep up the good work.
