Former African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate and human rights activist Omoyele Sowore is worried about what he calls the lack of progress in Ondo State.
The state should be lamenting bad leadership, not the announcement of public holidays, according to Sowore, a native of the state who is from Kiribo in the Ese-Odo Local Government Area.
Residents of the state were granted Monday and Tuesday off by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa so that they may participate in the state’s 50th anniversary festivities.
Sowore, the man behind the #RevolutionNow and #Take-It-Back campaigns, claimed that Aiyedatiwa has kept the state from moving forward by not implementing any kind of regeneration or development strategy.
Instead of celebrating the state’s 50th anniversary with a public holiday, he argued that Ondo State residents should join Governor Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa in calling for a day of mourning over the state’s bad governance.

“All roads have not been finished yet. Nothing to announce in terms of new hospitals or tangible security accomplishments.
“Citizens are presented with pageantry rather than milestones; progress is portrayed as a physical dance performance.”
There has been no progress or revitalisation in Ondo State in its 50 years of existence; instead, the state is twirling around its own stagnation, with thuggery flourishing and government noticeably lacking.
Yomi Oyekan, a governor’s adviser, has said that Sowore’s persistent attacks on constituted officials stem from his lack of understanding of government.
“Running a state is not running a Twitter space,” stated Oyekan, a senior special assistant to Aiyedatiwa. Rage does not build institutions, and the level of anger in a post does not indicate the level of growth. This is more disheartening because it is coming from an Ondo son, who ought to comprehend the enormity of our difficulties.
The use of hyperbole—”nothing exists, nothing works, everything is fluff”—in lieu of providing actual information, timetables, or comparisons is your go-to strategy. Intellectual sloth, not boldness, describes that.
