According to Senator Godswill Akpabio, president of the Nigerian Senate, he gets pumped up whenever the opposition voices their disapproval of a measure passed by the Senate.
While welcoming Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Nigeria’s first lady, to Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State, Akpabio addressed the crowd on Saturday.
He thinks the right law has been passed when he hears the opposition angry about it.
He said the opposition leaders who have threatened to skip the 2027 presidential race aren’t prepared to win.
“Each time we make a law and the opposition frowns, I get excited that I’ve made the right law,” he remarked confidently.
I witnessed a man yesterday yelling on television about how we’re going to boycott elections due to the Amended Electoral Act.
Tell the truth; you’re not prepared, and that’s why you’re boycotting the elections. That was my reaction. “You won’t boycott if you’re ready.”
