Nigerians deserve answers from President Tinubu, according to financial expert Onyekpere

Eze Onyekpere, an expert in public finance management, has dared President Bola Tinubu to answer the Nigerian people’s questions about the state of the country’s finances and spending plans.

While speaking on Thursday during an interview with Arise Television, Onyekpere made this announcement.

Lawmakers in Nigeria should explain to the people of Nigeria why they neglected their responsibilities, he added, accusing the National Assembly of playing to the gallery.

In my opinion, the Nigerian people would benefit from hearing from Mr. President on the status of our finances and the implementation of our plans. He ought to delegate the task to the Minister of Finance to administer to the people of Nigeria if he is unable to accomplish it himself.

Since the budget office is obligated to provide us with quarterly reports on the implementation of the budget, the National Assembly ought to apologise to the people of Nigeria for shirking their responsibility.

“They didn’t say anything at the end of the first quarter, they didn’t say anything at the end of the second quarter, nothing said at the end of the third quarter, nothing even said at the end of the fourth quarter.

They want us to give them significant consideration now that 2026 is being considered. To start, you may remember that Mr. President did inform us in August that they had met or exceeded the December income goal. They said it was for purposes unrelated to oil earnings in August.

“In 2025, I will believe that the President and the Minister of Finance should work together to resolve this issue, instead of involving the Accountant-General of the Federation, who follows orders,” he stated.
