Claiming it is an insult to Igbo youths, the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) has turned down the formal invitation to the City Boy Movement protest in Owerri, Imo State.
Along with advising all Igbo youths to avoid the Owerri gathering planned to celebrate Seyi Tinubu—the son of President Bola Tinubu—the OYC issued a statement on Thursday through its National President, Igboayaka O. Igboayaka.
Igboayaka argues that, given the federal government’s detention of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, it was inappropriate to invite the Ohanaeze Youth Council to the City Boy protest in Owerri.
At a time when many young Nigerians are fighting poverty, unemployment, and other hardships, the OYC further claimed that the creator of the City Boy Movement is flying on jets and flaunting his riches.
Ignoayaka claimed that the Seyi Tinubu City Boy Movement rally in Owerri was a politically motivated attempt to ridicule the Ndigbo people, particularly the Igbo youth, over Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s ongoing incarceration.
