“He lacks real quality,” Roy Keane says of Liam Delap of Chelsea

Former Manchester United star Roy Keane has harsh words for Liam Delap, the striker for Chelsea, saying that the England U21 international isn’t good enough. After being relegated to the Championship, Delap joined Chelsea from Ipswich Town.

He scored 12 goals in the Premier League for Ipswich, but he hasn’t been able to carry that success over to the Blues this year.

Keane said on the Stick to Football podcast, “At the moment, he is obviously lacking confidence and he lacks real quality?” in response to the question of whether Delap has been a success or failure for Chelsea.

You need to be more than just a handful up front. You should give him a pass because he is still a youngster.

“He has been disappointing for Chelsea thus far, but I am not ruling him out completely.”

Despite missing time due to injury earlier in the year, Delap has found the back of the net once for Chelsea in the Premier League.
