Singer Ahmed Ololade (aka Asake) of Nigeria has spoken about the struggles he had as a young, up-and-coming musician.
The Sungba singer revealed in an interview with Famous TV that he was once turned down by show promoters due to his predominantly Yoruba singing style.
He reflected on the rejections he faced and expressed gratitude that he remained true to his Yoruba sound and continued singing. He said that he had grown as a person because he was resilient and persistent.
Thanks to God’s grace, faith in myself, perseverance, and consistency, I am where I am today. People started to reject me and refuse to let me play at events only because I was Yoruba-speaking.
