Appointed as an ambassador by the African Union (AU), Hon. Phrank Shaibu was previously the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Shaibu was officially welcomed into the Pan-African AU Agenda 2063 Governing Council in Abuja today, Wednesday, February 4.
Through inclusive and sustainable development, integration, and Pan-Africanism, the African Union aspires to convert Africa into a global powerhouse through its 50-year strategy framework, Agenda 2063 (2013–1963).
In order to realise “The Africa We Want,” the agenda lays forth a plan of action that prioritises cultural preservation, economic development, democratic leadership, and peace and security.
Ambassador Shaibu was nominated to the advisory council and appointed to the Pan-African AU Agenda 2063 diplomatic mission in a letter signed by Ambassador Stephen Gbatigbi Ben-Joel, President of the Pan-African AU, on November 18, 2025, according to a statement released by Atiku’s spokesman, Paul Ibe.
The letter states that Shaibu’s nomination is a result of his “extensive achievements as a teacher, leader, scholar, and entrepreneur.”

With a background spanning nearly three decades, Hon. Shaibu has worked as a writer, educator, and public relations and crisis communication specialist. He is currently Atiku Abubakar’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication.
