George Akume, secretary general of the federal government, has urged the newly appointed ministers to collaborate closely with other senior officials, including agency heads and permanent secretaries, in order to carry out their responsibilities.
While the seven newly appointed ministers were on their second day of the induction retreat, Akume offered this counsel.
According to Gistcon, President Bola Tinubu appointed seven new ministers and removed five old ones in a cabinet reshuffle that took place on October 23.
Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction Minister Nentawe Yilwatda, Labour and Employment Minister Muhammadu Dingyadi, and State for Foreign Affairs Minister Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu are the new ministers.
Idi Maiha is in charge of livestock development, Yusuf Ata of housing and urban development, Suwaiba Ahmad of education, and Jumoke Oduwole of industry, trade, and investment are among the others.
Resolving issues like social cohesiveness, sustainable development, and economic recovery requires strong inter-ministerial cooperation, says the SGF.
“You must work closely with other ministers, permanent secretaries, agency heads, and other interested parties in order to fulfill your duties,” he stated.
He emphasized the importance of ministers being open, accountable, and excellent in their work to satisfy the public’s faith in them.
The head of Akume’s office assured them of their full support as they urged them to take the lead in creating, executing, and overseeing government programs and policies.
