Taiwo Oyedele’s ministerial screening commences in the Senate

The Senate began the vetting process for Taiwo Oyedele’s nomination to the office of Minister of State for Finance on Wednesday.

Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele moved to admit Oyedele to the chamber, and the session commenced as a result.

Basheer Lado, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Senate affairs, escorted Oyedele and other government officials inside the Senate as they arrived at approximately 2:21 pm.

Former Defence Minister Tokunbo Kayode and Ondo State Commissioner for Justice Kayode Ajulo were among those who joined him.

According to Gistcon, Oyedele will replace Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite as Minister of State for Finance after President Tinubu officially asked the Senate to confirm her on Tuesday.

Additionally, the President has asked the Senate to confirm Magnus Abe, a former senator from Rivers South-East, to the position of chairman of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).

Senate President Godswill Akpabio read two letters outlining the requests during plenary.
