Ujah is actively seeking Eguavoen’s appointment as the permanent coach of the Super Eagles

Augustine Eguavoen has the support of former Super Eagles attacker Anthony Ujah, who wants him to take over as the team’s substantive head coach.

For the time being, Eguavoen is serving as the Super Eagles’ interim manager.

The former defender was named coach for this month’s qualifiers against Rwanda and the Benin Republic for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Nevertheless, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) continues to have plans to bring in a foreign technical advisor to help guide the team.

In Ujah’s opinion, Eguavoen deserved a permanent position.

Ujah informed Brila FM that the team is currently going through a period of change, transitioning from coach José Peseiro to the search for a new coach.

To my delight, Eguavoen has been named interim manager.

“I am uncertain of his tenure, but the players hold him in high regard because he is a decent man.”

It is also believed that Eguavoen would lead the Super Eagles in their match against Libya’s Mediterranean Knights next month.
