Bimbo Akintola, a seasoned actress in Nigeria’s film business, has spoken out about the financial struggles she faces, explaining that she cannot afford to live the opulent lifestyle of her colleagues.
In a recent interview, Akintola argued that women can’t get rich from performing alone, pointing out that money from shows like Africa Magic isn’t always enough to live lavishly.
There have been rumours that certain actresses have had financial dealings with politicians. So now when people wonder why I am not as wealthy as everyone else, I simply urge them to find out what else they do for a living. Because we are aware of the movie budgets of Africa Magic and other platforms,” she explained.
Many of the extravagant lifestyles shown online cannot be accounted for by acting fees alone, the veteran actress, who has spent decades in Nollywood, pointed out. She continued by saying that the public sometimes misunderstands where the money in the entertainment industry really comes from.
