The governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, has shown his condolences to the families and communities hit by the recent bandit assaults in the state, while also reiterating the administration’s will to combat insecurity.
The governor had an emergency security meeting on Friday at the conference room of Government House in Gusau, according to a statement released on Saturday by his spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris.
The conference convened state security chiefs and other interested parties to discuss the increasing level of insecurity in the state, as stated in the announcement.
Governor Dauda Lawal called an emergency security meeting with all state security chiefs and other interested parties to address the ongoing insecurity in Zamfara State, according to the statement.
The gathering also serves to emphasise the state government’s and security agencies’ joint dedication to protecting citizens and their possessions.
A review of the present security architecture and the implementation of coordinated plans to fight new threats are urgently required by Governor Lawal, who has charged the security chiefs with the task.
To stop these attacks in their tracks, he urged everyone to be on high alert, share information more effectively, and take swift, coordinated action.
In addition, the governor emphasised the need for security authorities to step up their efforts in order to effectively eliminate threats in all impacted localities and prevent criminal groups from acting freely.
Further, he assured the families of the fallen and wounded security personnel that they would continue to receive institutional, logistical, and operational assistance in their efforts to make their jobs safer and more successful.
Bandit attacks have recently resumed in several sections of the state, prompting the emergency meeting. One such incident occurred on February 19 in the village of Dutsin Dan Ajiya in the Anka Local Government Area, resulting in the alleged deaths of scores of villagers.
Several people were reportedly taken and others are still missing after a heavily armed group assaulted the town, closed access routes, and began firing on the inhabitants during an hours-long onslaught, according to residents.
