Nasir El-Rufai, a former governor of Kaduna State, has received a condolence visit from Rotimi Amaechi, a former minister of transport, in the wake of his mother’s death.
During his Saturday visit to El-Rufai, Amaechi criticised the ICPC for releasing the ex-governor without a court order, citing corrupt practices and other related offences. After a recent decline in health due to ageing, El-Rufai’s mother passed away on Friday afternoon.
In order for El-Rufai to be able to attend his mother’s funeral, the ICPC released him from their custody on Friday night, citing compassionate reasons.
“They just released him (El-Rufai) without a court order to show you that the government knows what they’re doing,” Amaechi remarked in response.
