Ogun State’s newly installed Onisale of Gbokoto, HRM Oba Tajudeen Olukunle, has been asked to maintain peaceful coexistence both within and beyond Gbokoto land by rigorously operating within his domain.
At a ceremony in Gbokoto-Isale’s Yewa North Local Government Primary School Playing Ground, Governor Dapo Abiodun installed and presented the monarch with the staff of office.
Peace and progress in the community, he emphasised, depend on people obeying the law and those in positions of constituted authority.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ganiyu Hamzat, spoke on behalf of Abiodun, stating that the development and expansion of Gbokoto land is still one of the administration’s primary objectives.
In his advice to the king, Abiodun emphasised that he should stay away from land-grabbing at all costs and should instead join the state government’s anti-land-grabbing initiative to reduce communal crime.
Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, addressed the sons and daughters of Gbokoto in a message of goodwill, urging them to embrace unity and love. They were reminded that their collective strength would lead to sustainable development. Oba Akinyemi Akintunde represented the Eselu of Iselu.
In his speech, Olusola Akinbode, chairman of Yewa North Local Government, welcomed the monarch and called on the people to stand behind the new traditional ruler as he brought about a new age of meaningful leadership.
Oba Tajudeen Olukunle thanked Governor Abiodun for authorising his installation in his acceptance address. He urged all Gbokoto citizens to support his reign and promised to work for the community’s peace, stability, and progress.
